On June 28th, 1969 the Stonewall Riots kicked of the gay rights movement in the US. In 1970 the first gay pride marches took place in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Chicago – today prides are happening all around the world. I want to know who the people are that are organizing todays prides and what the marches mean to them. See all Faces of Pride.

It is called Faces of Pride because the idea is to introduce the organizers of some of the world’s most important pride parades, who – in my experience – don’t necessarily get much recognition for the work they do. In this context I would especially like to hear perspectives of women and trans* organizers.

I’m also only contacting organizers of prides that I think have an especially important story to tell. I’m not interested in big commercial mainstream pride parades in places like the US or UK, but would like to shift focus to places where prides are more political, or to prides that some people might not even know exist.
